About Agewell Foundation

Agewell Foundation,India is a not-for-pofit NGO which has been working for the welfare and empowerment of older persons since 1999. Agewell has set up a two-tier network of over 7500 primary and 80000 secondary volunteers spread across 640 districts of India and interacts with over 25000 older persons on daily basis through its volunteers’ network.

 

Recognizing the work being done by Agewell Foundation ECOSOC has granted Special Consultative Status to Agewell Foundation at United Nations. It is associated with Department of Public Information, United Nations(UN-DPI). Agewell has also been member of Working Groups and Steering Committees on Social Sector for Xth, XIth and now the XIIth Five-Year-Plan of Planning Commission of India since 2002.

Agewell is a close-knit team of concerned individuals from varied fields, each with a track record of success, sharing regard and concern for the old. People who have come together to find a way out of the loneliness that most old people have to face. There are professionals, senior bureaucrats, university professors; artists, writers, judges – all people who sincerely feel for the cause. To support their efforts is a dedicated management, a team of professionals & trained counsellors charged with zeal to work for the society.

Agewell Foundation seeks to reach out to larger audience of older persons and act as a catalyst of change in bridging the gap between generations and ensuring respectful and comfortable life for old people. Agewell Foundation interacts with older persons and their caregivers at all levels Family, Community and State.

To change the perception about the old age and bring about a shift from pity and helplessness to self- confidence and dignity for older person, Agewell Foundation, is committed to reassure, assist and be there for older people always in all ways. This is not our profession, this is our passion.
